Parent Letter

June 7, 2010

Dear Parents,

It does not seem possible that this year is coming to a close.  It has gone  quickly!  I have enjoyed getting to know you and your families.  Your children have grown a lot this year—both academically and spiritually.  I am happy to have been a part of their growth.  I am especially grateful to Mrs. Almeda, our wonderful Instructional Assistant.  Her efficiency, humor, and gentle guidance of the children have added much to their growth and to my sanity!

Tomorrow, Tuesday, our class will have an end of the year party.  It will begin at about 10:45 and will include lunch.  We are planning on having tacos that the children will assemble themselves.  We are grateful to Monica Saylor for all her help this year on our celebrations and other activities.  She is organizing this final one too.  Students may have free dress on Tuesday for our party and for the games they will be playing.

Wednesday and Thursday are 12:30 dismissal.  Friday’s schedule is 9:00-10:30.

We are including a list of books the students might enjoy reading this summer.  They are only a suggestion.  We are also sending a cursive alphabet so your child can continue to practice.  They have done really well learning cursive and are eager to use it.

We are expecting students to use Mathletics regularly this summer to keep their skills honed.  Teachers will access reports at the end of the summer to check for regular participation.  Your child’s user name and password are taped on the inside front cover of their Assignment Notebooks.

We will continue to learn and to have homework this week.  It is as follows:

Monday                Bookworm and come to the Ice Cream Social

Tuesday               Bookworm

Wednesday           Bookworm

Thanks to all our wonderful parent helpers who were so faithful in giving of your time this year.  It was good knowing we could count on you for extra tutoring, organizing, art projects, and a variety of other jobs.

It has been a pleasure to work with your child this year.  Mrs. Almeda and I are grateful to have been a part of your child’s educational and spiritual growth process.  We hope each child will remember Second Grade with fondness and good memories.

We pray your families will have a blessed and happy summer.

Sincerely,

Sister Marie                   Mrs. A.
