Parent Letter
January 30, 2012
Dear Parents,
It was good seeing so many of you yesterday at our Open House. We received many positive comments on our classroom and our work. Thanks to those of you who purchased books for our classroom at the Book Fair. The Second Grade will go shopping tomorrow and they can also continue to bring in money to buy books through Thursday.
Many activities are planned for our celebration of Catholic Schools’ Week. Our mornings will begin with prayer at the flagpole. Each day has another activity.
Tomorrow students may wear crazy socks and have crazy hair. In order to participate, they must bring a new pair of socks to give to a shelter. Spirit shirts or uniforms are to be worn that day, in between the crazy hair and socks! In the afternoon, we will attend the Brain Bowl.
Wednesday students may wear yellow and black and we will attend the Spelling Bee in the afternoon.
Thursday our class color is purple. We will have lunch in our peace families that day.
Friday is formal uniform for Mass and the blessing of our throats for the feast of St. Blaise. Students need to bring their offering envelopes.
This week we will read “Angel Child, Dragon Child.” The test will be on Thursday and the Spelling and Math fact tests on Friday.
Our parent meeting for Eucharist is this Saturday, February 4. We will meet in Cauchi Hall from 9:30 until 12:30. Besides the presentation by our speaker, Sister Joann, you will receive information and banner materials for First Communion. It is important that at least one parent from each family attend. Sibling testing is being set for a time prior to our meeting.
Homework for the week is as follows:
Monday: Bookworm and spelling page 89
Tuesday: Bookworm and grammar sheet
Wednesday: Bookworm and math sheet
Thursday: Bookworm and write spelling words 3 times
See you Saturday at the Parent Meeting.
Sincerely,
Sister Marie Raymond
