What is Accelerated Reader?

Accelerated Reader is a program designed to test student reading comprehension. Among other things, however, the program also provides the excitement of gathering points, the foundation for monitoring students' outside reading, and it provides many valuable and essential tools for lifelong learning.

The related program, Star Reading, is the program that places the student into the appropriate reading level for the Accelerated Reading program/books. This is an assessment program that proves very valuable in helping teachers initially assess, and then monitor, the growth of a student's reading ability.
